First Birthday

Our boys made it- they turned one!  We had a fantastic weekend celebrating with the boys and family and friends in Arkansas.

Saturday we were planning to tailgate before the Arkansas vs. Alabama game but it rained.  And we didn't want to have the boys out in that weather so we just hung out at Aunt Amy and Uncle Jerry's house while they tailgated and went to the game!  My parents came in with us and my Uncle Rod and Aunt Claire Rita drove up from Little Rock for the day.  Needless to say the boys LOVED all of the attention!

Mommy with her birthday boys!
Uncle Rod and Aunt Claire Rita haven't seen the boys since their dedication at the end of April.
We watched the game a little and were thankful for the entertainment from the boys...
Once again Calvin stole the attention of Unlce Rod!  He would walk over to him and just love on him!

We had their birthday party on Sunday and all of Scott's family came up from Fort Smith for the celebration.  Aunt Amy and Uncle Jerry let us take over their house for the party!  It was so nice for us not having to clean and plan plus the drive was only 45 minutes for everyone instead of 2.5 hours!

Here are the birthday boys getting ready for everyone to come over!

Aren't these hats so cute?
We had their cakes decorated like monsters and oh my they were so cute!  I love Rick's Bakery in Fayetteville and wish we had one everywhere we live!
They also made cookies for the boys for tailgating.  Since we didn't go tailgating they became party favors!

I made books of their monthly pictures to see how they grew.  We actually saved the stickers every month so we could reuse them in their books!  They were more of a study guide for people because...
...we also made a 'Guess Who' game for everyone to play!  The scores ranged from 6 to 14 out of 15 correct!  Aunt Sarah won so she gets to baby sit the boys overnight any weekend she chooses!  We're still waiting for her to plan which weekend...
Me and my Dad with the birthday boys!
Our efforts to get the boys smiling at the same time resulted in neither of us smiling!

And let us all not forget this special day is also shared with Uncle Todd!  We had a red velvet adult sized smash cake made for him!
All three birthday boys!
The proud parents!  We survived the first year!
As expected they didn't really get excited about opening presents.  But we enjoyed it and watching them play with each item.
That is until this present was opened!  Amy and Jerry made their FAVORITE gift of all.  A board with the doorstoppers glued on!  They can play with those as long as they want without us worrying about it coming off.  At home they hit them until they come loose and off the wall.
See what I mean, they are so entertained by these things!
And then it was time for cake.  We didn't have to put their hands in it or give them a taste.  They obviously have our sweet tooth!  They each took a little taste...
...then thought about it...
...and made sure brother liked it too!
I mean they LOVED the cake!  Caleb sucked off every finger after touching the icing (as best as a baby can!) and then would grab for more!
Calvin used more of a smearing method and just got some of the food in his mouth!
Here's the big boy when he decided he was all done.  He lasted about 15 minutes on the cake.
And after 30 minutes we pulled Caleb up.  He wasn't too happy about leaving the cake but we didn't want his tummy to get too upset!
And they were ready for a nap afterwards!
Calvin likes snuggling with PaPa when he gets tired.  Every time if he's around that is who he prefers!

On the ride home they slept the entire way!  We had so much fun with all the family and friends celebrating their little lives so far.  It is pretty much the same group that came to see them when they were born, came in for their dedication, and have helped us countless times over the past year!  We are so blessed to have family and friends that support us in life- whatever that brings.
