Last outdoor project of the season!

Scott and I had a few projects we wanted to get done early in the spring since I'll be helping less and less in the summer!  So far we have worked on the front yard, continued to battle weeds, stained the fence, and we just finished a landscaping area in our backyard.  We do want to plant a couple of trees on the other side of our yard for shade and wind protection but that will just have to come later!  So, here's a little recap of our project from last weekend (just in case you are like me and have no clue how to successfully plant things!).

Here's what you need to start:
1.  Supplies, well more specifically...
An area in your yard, preferably with a freshly stained fence for the background.
Stuff to make your dirt usable (peat moss to make it fluffy, organic matter for health, and potting soil for potted plants!
Plants- we had azaleas, crate myrtles, grasses, lavender, and some yellow flower plant thing.  For the pot I have rosemary and basil, oh how the smell of these makes my mouth water!
2.  A husband who has a plan/vision and knows how to plant stuff!  Warm weather would have been a bonus but that just didn't happen!  It was in the low 50's all morning and WINDY.

3.  A dog ready to play and demand attention throughout your project.  While this might slow you down slightly, it is a great break!
Macy thinks it is great fun to eat on the weeds growing in the yard.  Usually about 10 minutes later she gets sick, and then starts eating more weeds!
4.  Then you dig, mix your soil, plant the stuff, use 18 bags of mulch, place your landscaping rocks and voila!  You're done and have a garden like this:

Great use of all the rocks Scott got a few weeks ago, and do you notice the GIANT one in the middle of the garden?  That one kept him from walking comfortably for a few days!
Every morning and evening when we're eating I look out our breakfast window and see this beautiful garden.  Ahhhh.  It makes me feel so accomplished.  Like we should just go ahead and plant the other trees and add some more flower and plants around the backyard.  (By we of course I mean Scott can dig the holes, mix the soil, carry everything, and I can help fill the holes with dirt from my mini shovel!)
Now all we need is plenty of sunshine so our plants can grow and bloom!

Speaking of blooming, here's my 19 week belly pic.  Thought you might enjoy an update before our doctor's appoint THIS AFTERNOON!!!!!  Can you tell I really can't concentrate at work this morning?
The belly has slowed on the outward growth but is really filling in up top.  Only 4 1/2 more months of growth!!!
